We had a great time at Outdoor Campus yesterday. We were able to work on team building activities, to help how we function together in the classroom. We also worked on several science standards including food webs, the energy pyramid, and biomimicry engineering. We had a great time!

We had a wonderful first day of school. Much of the day was spent on procedures. We discussed the Pledge of Allegiance, fire drills, turning in papers, classroom jobs, high frequency words, math binders, and our schedule. Hopefully, many questions were answered, and we will continue to answer many more.
Students wrote and discussed their hopes and dreams for the school year, and we will use those to determine a set of classroom rules. By doing this, the rules are set by the students themselves. I will send them home when we have them finalized. Thank you for all your welcoming smiles, and your support this year! What a wonderful Halloween we had! Our room parents and others did an amazing job of putting together treats and activities for everyone to enjoy. Thank you to all who helped and donated!
We had a great time at the Black Hills Pow Wow. We were able to listen to Billy Mills speak of his Olympic experience. We watched and participated in Hoop Dancing, and learned about some other types of dance from the Lakota people. We had a great time learning more about food chains, by digging firsthand into owl leftovers. The students were able to identify the different animals the owls had eaten based on the bones they regurgitated. What a wonderful time we had at the job fair! Business men and women from all over Rapid City came to share their skills with the students. I truly hope that it helps each child dream of what they can do with their future. If you can dream it, you can achieve it! This week we celebrate BREAKFAST! We have learned how important breakfast is to our focus throughout the day. Milk is a big part of our breakfast, and these are our moustaches to prove it! |
